The Russia Investigation 1 Year Later

While a large number of Americans still believe the Russian Collusion story to be cooked up by the Democratic Committee as a smear campaign in Response To Donald Trump’s claims of being able to improve relations with Russia. Especially when the fact, that the DNC is responsible for purchasing the now infamous Russian Dossier that sparked the investigation came to light. 1 year later Mueller’s investigation is still pushing full steam ahead with little to nothing to show in the way of collusion for the Trump administration.

So far, we know that Paul Manafort and Rick Gates have been indicted. The charges allege that Manafort and Gates worked as Unregistered Agents because of lobbying to the Ukraine which violates the Foreign Agents Registration Act passed in 1938. The charges are for crimes committed between 2006 and 2015. (neither man worked for the Trump Campaign at this time. How does this connect Russia? A onetime Ukranian president named Viktor F. Yanukovych that was a pro-Russian politician.

The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) is a United States law passed in 1938 requiring that agents representing the interests of foreign powers in a “political or quasi-political capacity” disclose their relationship with the foreign government and information about related activities and finances.

According to Time.com, there are multiple versions of the story on how Manafort became part of Trump’s team. But after reading all of the versions it appears that Paul used his associates to injected himself into the campaign and went for the power grab once he got his foot in the door. Watching the Apprentice, Donald has always been a fan of a “get er done” guy and Manafort came when the Trump campaign needed someone with a political background the most. NYTimes.com claims that Manafort was on the rocky ground within the campaign ranks already due to many mistakes made on Pauls behalf. Trump himself blamed Paul Manfort for leaking information to the press that claimed the campaign staffers were arguing amongst each other. It was a Thursday evening when the news first aired on television of Pauls ties to the Ukranian Government. Friday morning Mr. Trump announced that he had accepted Manforts resignation. Eric Trump claims the resignation was not voluntary on Pauls part.

Rick Gates was deputy to Paul Manafort as Manafort served as campaign chairman for the Trump Campaign. According to CNN.com Manafort and Gates are longtime business associates, Rick and Paul met over 30 years ago when gates started as an Intern for Manaforts consulting firm. CNBC.com says Gates maintained a direct relationship with former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and the government of Ukraine, at times explicitly purporting to represent the government of Ukraine in Washington, D.C., without properly registering those activities with the U.S. government, the indictment charges. Mr. Gates claims everything was done by the book under his attorney’s guidance.

There is plenty of evidence that suggests Manafort is not exactly a good guy. For instance, businessinsider.com has a whole section titled ‘A sick f—ing tyrant

  • The New York Times reported in July that Manafort was in debt to pro-Russian interests by as much as $17 million by the time he joined the Trump campaign.
  • Legal complaints filed by representatives of Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire allied with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the Cayman Islands in 2014 claimed Deripaska gave Manafort $19 million that year to invest in a Ukrainian TV company. The project fell through, and Manafort all but disappeared without paying Deripaska back, the filings claimed.
  • A Ukrainian member of parliament has accused Manafort of accepting nearly $1 million from Ukraine’s pro-Russia Party of Regions and then laundering it through a company that claims to sell computers. Ukrainian lawyers also want to question Manafort about what role he played, if any, in the 2014 police killings of protesters in Kiev.

1 year into an investigation for an undisclosed amount of money, we have two indictments right as the DNC gets busted for the dossier is front and center in the news, and still no collusion with Trump and the election, just the Clintons and a bunch of dirty politicians on the Uranium 1 deal.
